Compliance & Advisory
Regulation is not a one-time hurdle for financial services companies — it is an ongoing condition of doing business. Shipkevich PLLC serves as regulatory and compliance counsel to financial services, fintech, payments, and digital asset companies, helping them build compliance into how they operate rather than treating it as an afterthought. For many clients, we function as an extension of their compliance team: drafting the programs, answering the day-to-day questions, and standing alongside them when regulators come to examine.
Our advisory work spans the agencies our clients answer to — FinCEN, the SEC, the CFTC, the CFPB, the FTC, and state banking and financial regulators — and the full lifecycle of a regulated business, from initial licensing and program design through examinations, regulatory change, and remediation.
Building and maintaining compliance programs. We draft the policies, procedures, and controls a regulated business needs, ground them in a real risk assessment, and keep them current as the business and the rules evolve.
Examinations and regulatory engagement. We prepare clients for examinations, manage the regulator relationship during them, and handle the findings, memoranda of understanding, and remediation that can follow.
Regulatory change management. The pace of change in our clients’ markets is unusually fast right now — the GENIUS Act, the Money Transmission Modernization Act, and the CLARITY Act among them. We translate new requirements into concrete actions before deadlines arrive.
Product and transaction counseling. We review new products, marketing, and disclosures for regulatory compliance before they reach the market, catching issues while they are still easy to fix.
