Felix Shipkevich will present at a two day course in New York held by Risk Magazine, titled “Managing Risks in Foreign Exchange.” Mr. Shipkevich will also speak on an exclusive panel that examines the future and impact of electronic trading platforms on the FX market.

Shipkevich PLLC is pleased to announce its new hire of Mr. Alexander F. Sand, who joined the firm as an Associate last month.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sand assisted the Investor Protection Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General with enforcement actions involving residential mortgage-backed securities, indenture trustees, and insurance price fixing.

Mr. Sand is a graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law, where he was the research editor of the Hofstra Law Review, and where he received an award for excellence in corporate and securities law.

On September 18, Mr. Felix Shipkevich participated in a panel discussion titled “Swap Execution Facilities: Bringing exchange style open trading into the OTC derivative world, what it changes and why it’s unavoidable”

Shipkevich PLLC is pleased to announce its new hire of Ms. Yvonne Mak, who joined the firm as an Associate this month.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mak, a Boston University School of Law graduate, completed litigation-support work on complex antitrust issues arising from corporate mergers. She also assessed potential Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) liability in various global companies’ internal ethics investigations.

On September 6, Elan Mendel participated in a panel discussion entitled Challenges and Opportunities in Reporting: An Analysis from the Experts at the Derivatives Trading in the Era of Dodd-Frank’s Title VII conference, to be held at the Marriot New York Downtown in New York.

At the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s (NYCLA) Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 24, Mr. Shipkevich was named to the Board of Directors of the New York County Lawyers’ Association. Mr. Shipkevich previously chaired NYCLA’s Futures and Derivatives Committee.
